Education applications are used in schools who are teaching students about robotics – students in school under age 14, high schools ages 14-19, colleges ages 19+, and universities ages 19+.
Arc welding
Arc welding is a metal joining method using an electric arc to generate heat to melt and join the base materials. Arc welding cells consist of a robot, often a positioner, welding process equipment and software tuned together to deliver a reliable welding system.
Measuring & Inspection
Measuring & Inspection: The 3D Quality Inspection cell simplifies the geometry quality inspection on manufactured products. Based on structured light and photogrammetry, ABB’s 3D Quality Inspection (3DQi) is capable of measuring faults that are less than half the width of a human hair at a pace that is dramatically faster than traditional measuring inspection tools. 3DQI not only offers quick and accurate quality checks, but also reduces expensive rework and scrappage. The cell can be configured in different layouts including one or more ABB robots equipped with the 3DQi measuring head, rotating tables and safety fencing.
Depalletizing
Depalletizing refers to the process of removing boxes, or other packaged items from a loaded pallet. It is often the first stage in a manufacturing process, where raw materials have arrived into a facility loaded onto a pallet.
Buffering
Buffering describes the temporary storage of goods before further processing – also called order consolidation in warehouse and logistics context.
Sequencing
Sequencing is the process of changing the order of incoming and outgoing items to achieve pre-defined sequences based on item delivery time, weight, temperature, or other attributes.
Storage
Storage systems are often used to hold the reserved stock to ensure that enough components or products are on hand to meet the anticipated demands.
